Launch of the Kenya Guide for Strategic Engagement in Carbon Markets 2026
Advancing Kenya’s leadership in climate action and carbon governance
On 5 October 2026, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, through the State Department for Climate Change, hosted the Launch of the Kenya Guide for Strategic Engagement in Carbon Markets 2026 at the Nairobi Serena Hotel. Convened in partnership with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the Carbon Transaction Facility, and international collaborators including the UK Government, Swedish Energy Agency, METI Japan, and NEMA, the event marked a defining moment in Kenya’s climate policy advancement. Misitu Milele was represented by our Chairperson and Executive Director.
The guide establishes a framework for Kenya’s strategic participation in global carbon trading systems, aligning national priorities with international climate commitments and reinforcing the country’s leadership in green growth.
The event underscored Kenya’s progress in developing transparent, equitable, and science-based mechanisms for carbon transactions, a milestone that strengthens collaboration between government, civil society, and private sector actors.
Congratulations to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry and the State Department for Climate Change for this visionary initiative. It sets a strong foundation for inclusive and strategic engagement in carbon markets, a development of immense significance to Misitu Milele’s mission of integrating carbon finance into community-based conservation and sustainable forestry programs.
